 Dalton is an Irish graphic designer who specialises in logo design and brand identity systems. Minimalistic qualities are often employed throughout his work to communicate a clear and precise message. Dalton is a full-time designer at the London based design studio SocioDesign.

Federico is a freelance graphic designer based in Santa Ninfa, a small town in West Sicily, Italy. His work is focused on visual identities and motion graphics.

(FL) Me and Duane know each other because Socio Design studio. They reached out to me for few motion design projects. But i've been following Duane for years. (DD) I first knew of Federico from Instagram, I was a fan of his type based animations, his style was unique and really stood out. It was interesting to see how his animations progressed overtime, I learned a lot from his Instagram output. At Socio we were lucky enough to have Federico create animated elements for a number of projects. Now it’s great to collaborate together outside of work and combine both our skillsets.   

First we wanted to nail down a solid Idea, so we independently research themes, naturally there were some similarities: space, geometry and design. Then we moved into the design phase to create our initial gut responses. We both were quick at making instinctive decisions and the whole process flowed well. Each of us fine tuned previous iterations of the design, back and forth, adjusting and improving. The form of the final design came about pretty quick.

(FL) The idea was to highlight the importance of the “new internet", that will be available worldwide and it will be cheaper and faster compared to the current providers. We featured the first 2 satellites form the Space X Starlink project, that went to orbit, Tintin A and B, the pioneers of the new internet.

(FL) I always like doing collaborations. It's great because you get to see what new ideas the other person can bring. Stuff that you wouldn't think of at first. Collaborations are stress-free and we can always work on projects we really like, without any pressure. (DD) Collaborations and self initiated work are more important than ever, given recent events. We are so lucky to be able to communicate so easily, as i’m based in London and Federico is in Sicily. It’s always fascinating to see how someone thinks, how they look at things and their approach to design. As a designer you have an idea of how things might look, but when you collaborate that changes completely, in a good way. You're pushed out of you comfort zone and end up with something unique.
