Skeleton Bloom

In “Not Pretty”, Kim works to capture the expanse of the human condition with minimalist abstract paintings featuring organic bright floral compositions. Equally symbols for love and life as they are for loss and tragedy, her distorted flowers play with the complexity of this relationship, framing their antithetical nature with bold colors and shapes brought together in one space. But unlike their live counterparts, the flowers are caught within an invisible container and kept alive, their perfection preserved and their beauty contained in a way that we struggle to achieve off the canvas.
