Queer artist Havi Millar and climate scientist Dr. Mika bring awareness to the impact of climate change on the Joshua Tree with this hand drawn design
Queer, Gen Z Filipino artist Havi Millar has teamed up with climate scientist Dr. Mika to bring awareness to the impact that climate change is having on some of the planet's less "charismatic" species. In this case, that's the iconic Joshua Tree. Even though "charismatic megafauna" like the polar bear are considered "mascots of the movement", even "charismatic megaFLORA" are worth saving.
This original design was hand drawn by Havi and references queer, Filipino motifs. (It's also pretty sickening if you ask us) Even though our beloved Joshua Trees are threatened with extinction due to climate change, THERE IS STILL TIME TO SAVE THEM. Which species are worth saving? Which species are charismatic enough to care about?
The proceeds for each shirt purchased will be used to support The Solarpunk Project, a non-profit sustainability-focused art-science collective in Chicago, and to plant a tree with The Canopy Project (https://www.earthday.org/campaign/the-canopy-project/).
