Getting my Ducks in a Row

My name is Sarah Donde, also known as @dondedraws on social media. I grew up in South Africa and now live in Amsterdam. I started painting again in 2023 to comfort myself after life took some unexpected turns and I was at a loss for what my purpose was, initially I come from a legal background. The irony was that this became the moment I found my purpose in art and writing. I take my greatest inspiration from finding the beauty in the mundane, the humour in the darkness, and the community that can be found in our experiences that make us feel the most alone.

The Story Behind the Design: I like to search for humorous relief in everything. We are always saying things like “I’ve got to pull my socks up”, “I’ve gotta get my ducks in a row”, but the truth is that they rarely are (pulled up or in a row), and if you manage to get your life in order, it’s a matter of time before it falls out of order. I think we should enjoy and accept those moments a bit more, because they make up a lot of this silly little thing called life.
