Dressays l/s tee
This campaign has now ended
Support the publishing costs of 'Dressays', an edited book of essays on dress & selfhood by Rosie Findlay. Artwork by Mirren Kessling!
Dressays is an edited book of essays by academics and writers that collectively examine how dress weaves us with ourselves, our communities and the wider world. Contracted with academic publisher, Bloomsbury Visual Arts, I'm in the final stages of commissioning new essays and arranging copyright permission for the ones I'm reproducing in the book.
However, I don't have a budget to cover these costs. I've secured funding from my employer, City St George's, University of London, as well as Association for Art History and some dear friends, which covers most of what I need.
I wondered if you, family, friends and internet friends, might also like to support the last stretch of the project at the same time as sporting a cute tee with an original artwork by my extremely talented friend, Mirren Kessling?
All funds raised will go directly to paying any remaining costs associated with collating the book's content and supporting the fees for the rights to my dream book cover. Any remaining funds after these costs have been covered will be donated to UN Crisis Relief - Occupied Palestine Territory Humanitarian Fund.
I chose to use Everpress for this campaign because of their efforts to create tees that don't harm the environment or people in their supply chain and production. To quote Jimmy from the Everpress team, who responded to my enquiry about who makes these clothes and where the cotton comes from:
"We work with brands that we know and trust, and conduct monthly reviews into the ethical sellout of our garment range - how many garments we consider 'ethical' from our entire garment catalogue (we would love to work towards an entirely sustainable garment range in the near future).
The brands we work with are Stanley Stella, Continental and a careful selection from Ralawise. We also stopped offering Fruit of the Loom & Gildan, due to their ties to prison labour and very low ethical standards.
We're now B-Corp certified, and part of this accreditation process is that we vet all current suppliers inc our print facilities - all of whom signed SLA's that detailed our sustainability journey and our expectations of them aligning with this."
This Premium Classic long-sleeved T-shirt is made from 100% heavyweight organic cotton. This style is Fair Wear, OEKO-TEX®, Vegan and GOTS approved and 200 gsm. If you like this, you might also like to check out the Dressays short-sleeved tee!
Thanks for reading this far and even if you don't buy a tee, I hope you'll check out the book (from your local library or order a copy if possible) when it's out (which will be late 2025-late 2026). That said, I know funds are limited at the moment, so just reading this or sharing it with fellow clothes-lovers is so appreciated!
