We had a chat with Lydia to recap on past projects and see what she has in store for the future.<\/p>\n

Growing up as the kid that “liked art”, I was always drawing whenever I could.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Was it always your plan to become a visual designer?<\/h3>\n

Growing up as the kid that “liked art”, I was always drawing whenever I could; on class tables, making cards for any occasion \u2013 always about the art stuff. I decided to take on a visual communications diploma and did pretty well and got to work with various companies prior to forming the collective Tell Your Children.<\/p>\n

One job was at an events company where I got the chance to work with Nike, and that helped inspire and build a knack I had for graphic design. I was mostly painting murals after and got busy with illustration commissions in the first few years of freelancing.<\/p>\n

How would you describe the aesthetic of your work?<\/h3>\n

Illustration. A ’90s cartoon vibe with street influence and a tropical color palette. An emotional take on counterculture.<\/p>\n

How did you develop your style?<\/h3>\n

Finding out what I like and what works for me to express what I’m about.<\/p>\n

When you\u2019re in need of a hit of inspiration, where do you turn?<\/h3>\n

I like going through and stacking up on magazines from a local distributor near my studio. Or I look for good ones to buy online too.<\/p>\n

What would be your dream project?<\/h3>\n

To execute a pop-up under Die Hard Lover somewhere out of Singapore \u2013 Indonesia, Japan, or LA would be amazing.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s been your favourite commission \/ piece of work to date?<\/h3>\n

Releasing and holding a launch party for the second collection of “Die Hard Lover”. Having to produce the collection from start to finish, working on things like shooting the look book, planning the release party, and everything in between was a great learning experience.\u00a0I wanted a separate platform to explore more graphic based content and it was gratifying to get a good response from the local scene in Singapore. I’m excited to see where DHL can go from here.<\/p>\n

What can we expect to see from you for the rest of the year?<\/h3>\n

I’ve got some work going on with a couple of fashion and beauty related brands and I’m looking forward to working on new releases and collaborations with Die Hard Lover.<\/p>\n
