Sonic Liberation Front<\/h3>\n

The idea for <\/span>Radio Alhara\u2019s<\/span><\/a> first T-shirt came from their 2020 Fil Mishmish project, which was in part a reaction to the ongoing occupation of Palestine. \u201cDuring the summer Israel decided to do a totally illegal annexation of land in Palestine and we wanted to react in a certain way, and we thought that in the frame of the radio, the most powerful way would be to create this massive online protest,\u201d <\/span>said Mothanna Hussein<\/span><\/a>. <\/span>Sonic Liberation Front<\/span><\/a> continues in this spirit; the T-shirt for an initiative by a group of sound platforms and sound artists who came together to unify their sound for Palestine and protest against the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.<\/span><\/p>\n

Magic Garden<\/h3>\n

\u201cThe main thing I try to add now is a mood,\u201d Brooklyn-based illustrator <\/span>Karlotta Frier<\/span><\/a> told us<\/span><\/a>, of their illustrations for publications like The New Yorker and LA Times. This approach reads in their <\/span>Magic Garden T-shirt too<\/span><\/a>, which was born out of a period of intense client jobs. \u201cI drew this in one sitting late in the evening of an incredibly busy summer,\u201d Frier said. \u201cI had so much commissioned work that I hadn’t drawn something self-initiated in at least six months and I didn’t put the pen down until one in the morning.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

MARY EARPS X HOLLAAAA FC<\/h3>\n

Just named BBC Sports Personality of the Year, <\/span>Mary Earps<\/span><\/a> was a key part of the Lionesses team, which reached the Women\u2019s World Cup final this past summer. A clever riff on a classic football tee, with the back adorned with her team number, the design<\/a> included her nickname – Mary Queen of Shots.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\"\"\n

No Nations! No Borders!<\/h3>\n

In a year which has felt increasingly politically conservative in the UK and globally, with clampdowns on protest and an amping up of the \u2018hostile environment\u2019, <\/span>Black Lodge Press\u2019s protest T-shirts<\/span><\/a> have felt vital. When we spoke to founder CJ Reay <\/a><\/span>earlier this year<\/span><\/a>, on making slogans which are so direct (messages include \u201cNo Nations! No Borders!\u201d), they said, \u201cThe political situation has evolved so much in this country that I feel like there isn\u2019t any space for subtlety.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Allergy Season<\/h3>\n

Per T\u00f6rnberg<\/span><\/a> was behind the merch for the electronic label Allergy Season, run by <\/span>Physical Therapy<\/span><\/a>. The label\u2019s visual identity, which <\/span>T\u00f6rnberg<\/span><\/a> is also behind, riffs on the aesthetics of allergy pharmaceuticals. First released in 2019, <\/span>this year saw a reissue of the classic T-shirt<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Protect Trans Youth<\/h3>\n

Fostering community and connection through art is integral to LA-based artist Loveis Wise\u2019 practice. \u201cI feel that when the fruits of my labour are at a point where I\u2019m able to share a piece, and when I\u2019m able to connect with folks on it, and just rejoice in what I was able to be a part of, and sit with my gratitude for that; that\u2019s when I feel very creatively satisfied,\u201d <\/span>they told us<\/span><\/a>. Their <\/span>Protect Trans Youth T-shirt<\/span><\/a> drew directly on this ethos \u2013\u00a0\u201dI wanted to create a motif that focuses on healing, transformation, and a call to action,\u201d Wise said.<\/span><\/p>\n\"\"\n

SCHIMMER RECORDS MERCH VOL. 4<\/h3>\n

The Offenbach am Main-based illustrator, animator and tattoo artist <\/span>Verena Mack<\/span><\/a> created this artwork for <\/span>Schimmer Records Collective<\/span><\/a>, and it\u2019s proved so popular it has run through multiple colourways and <\/span>garment iterations<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\"\"\n

Over the Hills<\/h3>\n

Formed in 2015, Boss Morris<\/a> are helping bring Morris dancing to a new generation. A fluctuating collection of around 12 creative practitioners, this female-led group approach preserving tradition as a process of reinterpretation, not reenactment. <\/span>A T-shirt<\/span><\/a> felt natural for Boss, as costumes are integral to what the troupe does. \u201cThat process [of costume design] centres around references to past versions of the Morris kit, as well as the heritage of fabrics,\u201d <\/span>Lily Cheathem told us<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\"\"\n

<\/h3>\n

ANTI-FASCIST NEIGHBOURHOOD<\/h3>\n

And finally, it\u2019s another football tee. The Hamburg football team St Pauli have a long history as an anti-racist, anti-fascist, anti-homophobic and anti-sexist team, and have drawn supporters the world over for their leftist stance and history with alternative culture. <\/span>This T-shirt<\/span><\/a> proudly celebrates the cult team.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n\"\"\n
